These small and big mirrors act as a “trompe l’oeil” since they are based on false impressions and confused perceptions.  These pieces are about reflections, false perspectives and fake shadows.

The aim is to create virtual openings and new vanishing points in a house in order to generate new dynamics and enlarge the space.  The small mirror will most probably be placed in the hall to serve as a tidy and create a sort of extra window or extra opening  (the small wooden receptacle which can be fixed by magnets to the metal plate can accommodate keys and all sorts of small items carried in the pockets).  As for the big mirror, it will give the impression that a large door is opening towards another world and broader perspectives...

The offset between the mirror and its support creates this depth and a fake impression that a door or window is open. As for the impression of the shadow in the case of the small mirror, this is created by the tray which is featured in a different tonality or color.  The wooden tidy makes the whole thing look like a small scene almost reminiscent of some classic paintings.

Discussions between materials, reality and virtuality but above all creation of a little world of its own...
